Description
The Object Designer is used to edit and maintain the objects in Build.One. The Object Designer adapts its functionalities to the object that has been opened, like this, the options available are different if the object that is being edited is a screen, a from or any other element like grids or toolbars.
Views of the Object Designer
The Object Designer has a set of views to edit different parameters or options of the objects that are being opened. This views are Details View, Design View, Flow View and Instances View
For Screens Objects, all the four views are enabled, for Forms Objects the Flow View is disabled, and for the rest of the object types, Design View and Flow View are disabled.
Details View
The Object Details holds the basic information about the object that is being edited, things like description or module can be edited in this view
Design View
The Design View allows the possibility of adjusting the layout and UI behaviour of the repository object by adding other controls to it and configuring events on them.
In the design View we can identify 4 main panels
- The layout design shows a tree structure of every used object (e.g. Screen, Forms, within the object. Some of the functionalities of the elements are edited with the gears button at the end of each element. For example adding a new tab in a Tabbar is done with this menu.
- The preview shows a low fidelity version of the object. In this panel you adjust the screens or forms composition. New elements can be added to the object by dragging and dropping from the Library of Objects to here.
- The attributes panel allows to edit the properties of the selected object. When an object in the Preview panel or the Layout Design panel is selected, this attributes panel change to display the attributes available for that specific object. There are three tabs to display the attributes, the first one display all the attributes in a grid, the second one is a simplified and more user friendly version of those attributes and the last one display just the events attributes.
- A catalog of all objects displays the list of all the available objects in the workspace that can be added to the object that is being edited.
Flow View
The Flow Designer provides a graphical user interface to link objects like a Forms and a . Different link types are available. More detailed information can be found in Flow View
Instances View
Instances show all children objects that use the currently opened object in a grid. Some ordering options are available in this grid, this is specially useful in object like Grid / Table and the ordering of its columns
Forms
The Object Designer has a set of special functionalities when it is used with Forms (Forms Objects).
Options available
The views available are the same as the other objects, however the Preview view is changed to adapt to the elements of a form (Fields, field sets or columns) The preview also allows drag and drop functionalities to reorder the elements inside the form.

How to use it
Open the object designer
The Object Designer can be accessed by creating a new object or opening an exiting one. To create a new object or edit one, a section for each type of object is available, all these section are under the Design entry of the sidebar.
For each object type section there is an option to create new objects or a list with all the already created objects, clicking in each entry opens the Object Designer for that object.
