1. Description
The Object Designer is used to edit and maintain the objects in Build.One. The Object Designer adapts its functionalities to the object that has been opened, like this, the options available are different if the object that is being edited is a screen, a from or any other element like grids or toolbars.
The object designer has 3 main sections, the Object Structure on the left, the Object Views in the centre and the Attributes and library of objects on the right.
1.1 Object Structure
This panel shows a tree structure with all the objects used in the object that has been opened. This tree structure displays the objects in a hierarchical organisation, for example if the screen opened has a tabbar, the elements inside the tabbar will be also reperesented inside in a deeper level in the treeview
Some of the functionalities of the elements are edited with the gears button at the end of each element. For example adding a new tab in a Tabbar is done with this menu.
1.2 Object Views
The Object Designer has a set of views to edit different parameters or options of the objects that are being opened. This views are Design View, Schematic View and Flow View.
For Screens Objects, all three views are enabled, for Forms Objects the Flow View is disabled, and for the rest of the object types, Design View and Flow View are disabled.
Design View
This view shows a low fidelity version of the object. In this panel you adjust the screens or forms composition. New elements can be added to the object by dragging and dropping from the Library of Objects to here.
The Design View allows the possibility of adjusting the layout and UI behaviour of the repository object by adding other controls to it and configuring events on them.
Schematic View
This view shows all children objects that use the currently opened object in a grid. Some ordering options are available in this grid, this is specially useful in object like Grid / Table and the ordering of its columns
Flow View
This view provides a graphical user interface to link objects like a Forms and a DataSource. Different link types are available. More detailed information can be found in Flow View
1.3 Object Attributes
The attributes panel allows to edit the properties of the selected object. When an object is selected in the Object Structure or in any of the Views, this attributes panel change to display the attributes available for that specific object.
Each attribute can have a description that can be read by hovering the info button. Each attribute is organised in different groups so it can be easily found. Also when an attribute value is changed in the instance level, a button appears to reset it to the default in the Object Master
1.4 Library of Objects
A catalog of all objects displays the list of all the available objects in the workspace that can be added to the object that is being edited.
This catalogue can be filtered with the options available in the Filter panel, these options include a search field for the name of the objects, filters for object types and filters for modules.
1.5 Forms
The Object Designer has a set of special functionalities when it is used with Forms (Forms Objects).
Options available
The views available are the same as the other objects, however the Preview view is changed to adapt to the elements of a form (Fields, field sets or columns) The preview also allows drag and drop functionalities to reorder the elements inside the form.
For more information of how to use the Forms, check Forms
2. How to use it
2.1 Open the object designer
The Object Designer can be accessed by creating a new object or opening an exiting one. To create a new object or edit one, a section for each type of object is available, all these section are under the Design entry of the sidebar.
For each object type section there is an option to create new objects or a list with all the already created objects, clicking in each entry opens the Object Designer for that object.
